Turning black dust to green energy
Exploiting an abundant resource
The U.S. holds 25 percent of the world’s coal reserves. That’s why, whatever technical advances may emerge in decades to come, simple economics dictate that clean-coal generation will supply a significant portion of our energy needs for the foreseeable future.
Reclaiming byproducts, restoring the land
U.S. coal impoundments hold millions of tons of slurry—coal fines suspended in wastewater from coal processing. New PFBC technology makes it economical to turn slurry into fuel and at the same time take steps toward cleaning up degraded landscapes.
